| Dear Lordie, God will never leave you. This Wednesday is no different.
Praying for you,
Bo Sanchez
| CONTEMPLATION He went off to the mountain to pray. – Mark 6: 46 I am a member of two Catholic Charismatic groups: Couples for Christ and the Light of Jesus Family. Just like our brethren in these two lively groups, I love to praise God with hands outstretched towards Him or dancing and swaying to holy music. Yet, I felt my soul seeking for more. God led me to a contemplative group called R.O.C.A (Regina Rosarii Contemplative Association) led by the Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii in Quezon City. It is the new “kid on the block” of the Dominican community. Its charism is to help members and observers sit and be still from the noise and haste and, yes, waste of the world — what my former parish priest in Geneva called the scourge of the 21st century. The “portable breathing prayer” that we practice brings me to a similar mountain prayer moment that I am sure Jesus had with the Father. Grace Princesa (grprincesa@yahoo.com) REFLECTION: No matter how busy we are, we should always make time to be alone with God as Jesus showed us, physically or through contemplative praying even while with others. Dear Lord, help me to be still and know that You are God. St. Cera, pray for us. | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | COMPANION | 1st READING True love has the power to transform the world because God is Love. We do not seem to realize this as often as we should. More often than not, the answer to so many of our problems and difficulties is the exercise of love. Let us seek to put this idea into practice in our lives and communities and we will see the difference it makes very quickly. 1 John 4:11-18 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us. 13 This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us of his Spirit. 14 Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as savior of the world. 15 Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God. 16 We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him. 17 In this is love brought to perfection among us, that we have confidence on the day of judgment because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not yet perfect in love. P S A L M Psalm 72:1-2, 10, 12-13 R: Lord, every nation on earth will adore you. 1 O God, with your judgment endow the king, and with your justice, the king’s son; 2 he shall govern your people with justice and your afflicted ones with judgment. (R) 10 The kings of Tarshish and the Isles shall offer gifts; the kings of Arabia and Seba shall bring tribute. (R) 12 For he shall rescue the poor man when he cries out, and the afflicted when he has no one to help him. 13 He shall have pity for the lowly and the poor; the lives of the poor he shall save. (R) G O S P E L With God at our side there is nothing we need to fear, except maybe His departure from us. Luckily, that will never happen. God does not abandon His people. If there is a gulf between you and God, it is there because you have created it through sin. Sin separates us from the love of God and hinders God’s ability to work among us. Let us seek to rid ourselves of sin for our own sake and the sake of the health of our Christian communities and fellowships. ALLELUIA R: Alleluia, alleluia Glory to you, O Christ, proclaimed to the Gentiles. Glory to you, O Christ, believed in throughout the world. R: Alleluia, alleluia Mark 6:45-52 45 After the five thousand had eaten and were satisfied, Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and precede him to the other side toward Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 And when he had taken leave of them, he went off to the mountain to pray. 47 When it was evening, the boat was far out on the sea and he was alone on shore. 48 Then he saw that they were tossed about while rowing, for the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them. 49 But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out. 50 They had all seen him and were terrified. But at once he spoke with them, “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!” 51 He got into the boat with them and the wind died down. They were completely astounded. 52 They had not understood the incident of the loaves. On the contrary, their hearts were hardened. my reflections think: With God at our side, there is nothing we need to fear. God’s special verse/thought for me today________________ _________________________________________________________ T O D A Y ’ S BLESSING LIST Thank You Lord for: ____________________________________ _______________________________________________________ READ THE BIBLE IN Genesis 13-15 | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | SABBATH | Searchers Keepers Pepe is a young man who grew up in the province. His family manages a farm and from a very young age, he has always been in contact with the earth. One time his cousin invited him to spend the Christmas season in the city. He enjoyed the bright lights, the busy crowd, the hurly-burly of the city life. But something in him still pines for the countryside. One time, while on a night stroll in the city with his cousin, he suddenly stops and says, “Did you hear that?” “Hear what?” his cousin asks. Pepe walks toward the garden area, bends down, lifts a leaf and points to a cricket sheltering underneath. “Wow, you must have bionic ears to find that cricket,” his cousin muses. Pepe smiles and says, “I guess you find what your heart is looking for.” Today, Jesus walks on the water, approaching the disciples in the boat amidst the storm. Did they recognize Jesus? No! Their heart was enveloped in fear that’s why they saw a frightening ghost. What you have in your heart, you will find. Look at John the Baptist, amidst the throng of people. Only he recognized Jesus at His first appearance, “Look there! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” He neither had bionic ears nor eyes. But He found Jesus because it was Him that his heart was looking for. Actually John the Baptist did not just “find” Jesus as if it was serendipity on his part. He was searching for Jesus. Jesus rewards those who search for Him. Jesus does not play hard to get. One who expects to find is waiting for chance. One who searches is propelled by choice. Are you a “finder” or a “searcher”? If you are a finder, most probably you will not be searching. And if you are searching for nothing, you will surely find nothing. Fr. Joel O. Jason Reflection Question: The Bible says, “Ask and you will receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7). Finders keepers? That’s not biblical. Searchers keepers. That’s biblical. God, You are our Father, not a Divine Puppet master. Thank You for the undeserved honor of being a partner in Your covenant of love. Amen.
