| Dear Lordie, May others see Jesus in you this Friday.
Praying for you,

| Heaven –Sent “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.” – Matthew 19:5 When was the last time you affirmed your husband? Please allow me to take this opportunity to honor my husband whose birthday falls on this day. More than 18 years ago, we attended a Life in the Spirit Seminar and started our spiritual journey together. Before that, we were college schoolmates. God must have had a perfect plan for us because he transferred from another school and then we met. Among his many traits, like being loving, industrious and many more, it’s his sense of accountability — not only to people and organization, but to God — that stands out. Through the years, we’ve built up a partnership with God who directs us through prayers. We defer to one another and respect each other’s opinion and values. We openly share and analyze our problems together — in our relationship, business and mission. Sharing is a key word in becoming one “flesh.” My share is affirming him lovingly even in small matters. It takes more than two to make our marriage work. We need Jesus at the very center.Donna España (donna@homeliving.com.ph) REFLECTION: God planted a seed of faith in our heart. We water it with prayer, fertilize it with the Word of God and cultivate it with lots of love. Lord, thank You for the sacramental grace of matrimony that strengthens our marriage bond. | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | COMPANION | 1st READING For centuries God has fostered and cared for the People of Israel and Judah and all they reward Him with is rebellion and sin. It is a good thing that God is a loving God or Israel would have simply been wiped out. There are a few faithful people who will return and rebuild the Temple after the exile but this remnant will struggle constantly for its existence until the Greeks conquer them and then the Romans and so on. Ezekiel 16:1-15, 60, 63 1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations. 3 Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: By origin and birth you are of the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 4 As for your birth, the day you were born your navel cord was not cut; you were neither washed with water nor anointed, nor were you rubbed with salt, nor swathed in swaddling clothes. 5 No one looked on you with pity or compassion to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out on the ground as something loathsome, the day you were born. 6 Then I passed by and saw you weltering in your blood. I said to you: Live in your blood 7 and grow like a plant in the field. You grew and developed, you came to the age of puberty; your breasts were formed, your hair had grown, but you were still stark naked. 8 Again I passed by you and saw that you were now old enough for love. So I spread the corner of my cloak over you to cover your nakedness; I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you; you became mine, says the Lord GOD. 9 Then I bathed you with water, washed away your blood, and anointed you with oil. 10 I clothed you with an embroidered gown, put sandals of fine leather on your feet; I gave you a fine linen sash and silk robes to wear. 11 I adorned you with jewelry. I put bracelets on your arms, a necklace about your neck, 12 a ring in your nose, pendants in your ears, and a glorious diadem upon your head. 13 Thus you were adorned with gold and silver; your garments were of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. Fine flour, honey, and oil were your food. You were exceedingly beautiful, with the dignity of a queen. 14 You were renowned among the nations for your beauty, perfect as it was, because of my splendour which I had bestowed on you, says the Lord GOD. 15 But you were captivated by your own beauty, you used your renown to make yourself a harlot, and you lavished your harlotry on every passer-by, whose own you became. 60 Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you when you were a girl, and I will set up an everlasting covenant with you. 63 That you may remember and be covered with confusion, and that you may be utterly silenced for shame when I pardon you for all you have done, says the Lord GOD. P S A L M Isaiah 12:2-3, 4bcd, 5-6 R: You have turned from your anger. 2 God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. 3 With joy you will draw water at the fountain of salvation. (R) 4 Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim his name; among the nations make known his deeds, proclaim how exalted is his name. (R) 5 Sing praise to the LORD for his glorious achievement; let this be known throughout all the earth. 6 Shout with exultation, O city of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel! (R) G O S P E L This text reminds us that even the most personal choices we make in our lives ought to be made within the context of living for the Kingdom of God. Contrary to what the world tells us this will not take the joy out of living; in fact it will enhance it to a level we never thought possible. It is only when we live for others that we will begin to approach the fullness of life that God offers us. Are you willing to trust God in this matter? Matthew 19:3-12 3 Some Pharisees approached Jesus, and tested him, saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatever?” 4 He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” 7 They said to him, “Then why did Moses command that the man give the woman a bill of divorce and dismiss her?” 8 He said to them, “Because of the hardness of your hearts Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) and marries another commits adultery.” 10 His disciples said to him, “If that is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” 11 He answered, “Not all can accept this word, but only those to whom that is granted. 12 Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it.” my reflections t h i n k : It is only when we live for others that we will begin to approach the fullness of life that God offers us. _________________________________________________________ God’s special verse/thought for me today________________ _________________________________________________________ T O D A Y ’ S BLESSING LIST Thank You Lord for: ____________________________________ _______________________________________________________ READ THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR 2 Maccabees 11-12 | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | SABBATH | FAITHFUL AND LOVING GOD Ezekiel is given an allegory that he must prophesy to the people of Israel. The allegory is that of a young girl taken into the arms and possession of a loving person who showers love and faithfulness. The young girl grows and develops into a beautiful woman, only to be given into prostitution. The faithful lover shows tremendous affection still after so much ingratitude and sin on the part of the woman. Such is the hesed of God, a Hebrew term meaning loving faithfulness or loving kindness. This is the faithful love of God. After rejecting and rebelling against love, He still offers pardon and mercy. It is hard to comprehend that God would love us so much even when we fail to love in return. God is patient, kind and gentle, unconditional in love, and faithful in all His ways. Israel is the figure represented by the young girl in the allegory. Israel was chosen from among all nations to be one possessed by the Lord God alone. God looked with pity and compassion. Moved with love, God washed, anointed and clothed in love and affection the nation of Israel and all its inhabitants. All is God’s work, a labor of love. God has done marvelous things in our lives. God has washed us from our sins and brought us into a loving relationship with Him through Jesus, His Son. Jesus has wedded Himself to us communally (Church) and individually. However, we still have the audacity to turn from Him in rejection and rebelliousness. Certainly, we must blush with shame at the thought of having offended such great love and mercy. God remembers His people. He remembers the covenant established from of old, a covenant now sealed with the blood of Christ — this new and everlasting covenant. Will we still turn away from Him? Fr. Brian Steele, MGL Reflection Question: Have you experienced the faithfulness of God in your own life? O God, You are kind and loving in all Your deeds. I turn to You with all my heart for You have shown me such love and forgiveness. Amen. St. Wigbert, pray for us. | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | | Watch Bo inspire you in Preacher in Blue Jeans
