| Dear Lordie, God has a great plan for your life?including this Tuesday.
Praying for you,

| HARVEST TRAINING “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.” – Matthew 9:37 I remember when I started serving the Lord 27 years ago. One time my leader gave me the task to lead the prayers in one of our prayer meetings. I boldly asked him if he could train me. He said, “I am not trained myself. Just watch me and copy what I will do.” Luckily, this advice does not apply to present times. Now there are a lot of trainings that one can attend to hone skills, character and spirituality to be at your best in serving God. If the laborers of God’s Kingdom are few, then these few laborers must be trained to do what is asked of them. I believe I was called to do my part in this regard. That is why I founded the Creative House Ministry (www.creativehouseministry.com). Part of its work is to train lay leaders in different aspects of Christian community, preaching, leading worship and making prayer gatherings creative and alive. If you consider yourself a worker in God’s vineyard, then I strongly suggest that you attend trainings that will sharpen your skills and inspire you in serving God’s people. Arun Gogna (gognaa1@yahoo.com) REFLECTION: If you were to grade yourself in your level of service to God and His people, what mark would you give? Lord, let me not stop growing. Continue to train me, mold me and use me. All for Your greater glory. Amen. | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | COMPANION | 1st READING Israel had begun to worship foreign gods as a result of the many alliance marriages of Solomon to foreign princesses. They insisted on being able to worship their own gods and, slowly, the people of Israel became attached to various gods and beliefs. We need to be careful that the ways and values of today’s world do not similarly infiltrate our lives. Hosea 8:4-7, 11-13 4 Thus says the LORD: They made kings in Israel, but not by my authority; they established princes, but without my approval. With their silver and gold they made idols for themselves, to their own destruction. 5 Cast away your calf, O Samaria! my wrath is kindled against them; How long will they be unable to attain innocence in Israel? 6 The work of an artisan no god at all, destined for the flames — such is the calf of Samaria! 7 When they sow the wind, they shall reap the whirlwind; The stalk of grain that forms no ear can yield no flour; even if it could, strangers would swallow it. 11 When Ephraim made many altars to expiate sin, his altars became occasions of sin. 12 Though I write for him my many ordinances, they are considered as a stranger’s. 13 Though they offer sacrifice, immolate flesh and eat it, the LORD is not pleased with them. He shall still remember their guilt and punish their sins; they shall return to Egypt. P S A L M Psalm 115:3-4, 5-6, 7ab-8, 9-10 R: The house of Israel trusts in the Lord. 3 Our God is in heaven; whatever he wills, he does. 4 Their idols are silver and gold, the handiwork of men. (R) 5 They have mouths but speak not; they have eyes but see not; 6 they have ears but hear not; they have noses but smell not. (R) 7 They have hands but feel not; they have feet but walk not. 8 Their makers shall be like them, everyone that trusts in them. (R) 9 The house of Israel trusts in the LORD; he is their help and their shield. 10 The house of Aaron trusts in the LORD; he is their help and their shield. (R) G O S P E L St. Maria Goretti, whose feast we celebrate today, was a young woman who gave her life rather than lose her virginity to an attacker. Her desire for purity and holiness is something we need to pray would capture the hearts of our youth today. The world, especially the media, places before them a whole set of values that are degrading to the human spirit. Free and easy sex is an abomination to God as He has created it to be pursued within a loving marital relationship. Let us not lose sight of the vision of God for our sexuality. Matthew 9:32-38 32 A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, 33 and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.” 35 Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. 36 At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; 38 so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” my reflections think: We need to be careful that the ways and values of today’s world do not infiltrate our lives. _________________________________________________________ God’s special verse/thought for me today________________ _________________________________________________________ T O D A Y ’ S BLESSING LIST Thank You Lord for: ____________________________________ _______________________________________________________ READ THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR 2 Chronicles 19-20 | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | SABBATH | THE HARVEST IS ROTTING AWAY There are few sights more shocking than a field of produce rotting in the sun for lack of people to harvest it, when we know there are so many people in the world dying of hunger. There is also something eminently satisfying in being part of a team that brings in a harvest of produce and sends it to the market and, ultimately, the tables of the people who will buy the food. It is this image that Jesus now applies to the concept of our faith. It reminds us that there are still many who have never heard the Gospel and are hungry to hear it and who will respond to it if only someone will share and proclaim it to them! Whether we like it or not we have been entrusted with the awesome responsibility to bring the Gospel of salvation to the ends of the earth. St. Paul tells the Corinthian people that we hold within our lives a precious treasure — the death of Christ — and it is our responsibility to share this Good News with others (2 Corinthians 4). Will we take up the call and be faithful and persevering in bringing in the harvest? Yes, it requires a lot of work to disciple someone, but let us never forget that someone has done that for us! Surely we can invest some of our time to share the Gospel with others, even if only to show our gratitude for having received the Gospel ourselves! Jesus gave His life on the cross so that we might be saved. The cost of bringing in the harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God pales in significance compared to Jesus’ commitment. This may sound like an emotional blackmail to you, but it is the truth. Jesus tells us that the harvest is ready; all He needs is for us to take up the task of bringing it in. I can assure you from my own experience that nothing is more fulfilling and satisfying in life than helping another person come to faith in Christ and seeing the transformation in his life.Fr. Steve Tynan, MGL Reflection Question: How much time and energy do I devote to sharing the Gospel with others? Jesus, help me to realize that it is not only a responsibility but a privilege to share in the work of evangelization by bringing Your salvation to all men and women. St. Modwenna, pray for us. | Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top | | Watch Bo inspire you in Preacher in Blue Jeans
